The Best Way to Deck Out Your Vehicle

Owning a vehicle is not a right, it is a privilege. When we have the privilege of owning a car, we like to give it a personality that reflects our own. The many accessories available to us allow us to add our own splash of personality to our vehicles. CarLife not only works to excel at giving the best automotive repair services possible in Gilbert, Scottsdale, and Glendale but we also like to appreciate the personality of the cars we work on.

Why Car Accessories?

There are various reasons that someone invests in accessories for their car. Accessories can show personality through a fuzzy, blue steering wheel cover or they can be more practical such as a mini fan that helps with keeping cool in the summer. We can enjoy the ability to embrace our vehicles with fun and practicality to make our commutes the most pleasant as possible.

Types of Car Accessories

There are some fun ways to deck out your car, whether it is LED lights that come alive at night to highlight your tires or spinner rims that blow your mind. There are also some great practical accessories that can make any time in the car much more pleasant. These include:
*Dashboard Video Recorder: These can record the amazing views you see along the way or help keep you from a fine or jail time.
*Wondergel Extreme Seat Cushion: This will allow a more comfortable ride on the derriere.
*Console Side Pockets: These help to decrease the aggravation of losing keys, phone, change, or food down the side of your seat, aka the carmuda triangle.
*DashGrip Gel Pads: The pads will allow you to keep safe by not having to search for items that slide during your drive.
*Phone Car Mount: To conveniently view your navigation on your phone, or to have hands free driving, there are several different types of car mounts to ensure safety.
These are just a handful of the more practical accessories that help to increase convenience, lessen irritation, and increase safety while driving.

The importance of your car is that it is truly yours. It is yours to maintain, to care for, and it is yours to jazz up and deck out. You get to decide on whether you want to give your car personality through things such as LED cup holder lights or more practicality through means of accessories like vehicle trash bins that help keep you clean and organized. Of course, doing both is an option, as well.

CarLife is here to help you embrace your vehicle, not only through great automotive repair services, but also through advice on great car accessories that would be unique for you. We want you to love your car as much as we do and give it the convenience or splash of personality you have been looking for. Come see us today for all your vehicle needs!

The Ins and Outs of Your Tires

In the heat it can be difficult to maintain tire pressure and it can get annoying when the low air light on your dash continually comes on. One of the most important aspects of your vehicle are your tires. They impact your gas mileage, your brakes, the way your car rides, and various other areas of the car. It is also highly important for your safety to maintain and have great tires. Carlife knows the value of well maintained tires. Our Gilbert, Scottsdale, and Glendale locations are passionate about giving your vehicle the best automotive services possible.

Basics of Tires

Each tire has it’s own specifications of how long it lasts and how many miles it can go. The life of the tire is determined by how well you maintain the tires, the design of the tire, road conditions, the weather, and the tire type itself. Driving habits and styles can also impact the overall life of your tires. Here are a few tips for maintaining tires for the long haul:
*After five years, your tires should be inspected annually.
*After ten years, it is highly recommended for you to get new tires. This includes replacing your spare tire as well.
*Well maintained tires can increase the lifespan of the tire itself. Checking and keeping the correct air pressure and getting regular tire rotation as well as regular vehicle maintenance is important.
It is important to pay attention to your tires, how they are riding, and if there seems to be a change in the smoothness of your ride.

Inspecting Your Tire

It is important for you as the owner to have regular maintenance for your tires but also pay attention to them yourself. A few ways to do so include:
*Check Air Pressure Monthly
*Check Tread Wear
-Using a Depth Gauge
-Using Tread Depth Indicators
-With the Penny Test: Gripping the penny between your thumb and forefinger at Abe’s body, place the penny upside down with the head sticking into the low part of your tread. If the tread covers any part of his head, you are ok. If his head is not covered at all, your tread is dangerously low and should be replaced.
*Check for Wear and Damage
*Look for signs of perforation, cuts, or deformation of your tire.
These are just a few ways to see if there is something concerning about your tires. Tires are incredibly important to how your car runs and, especially, for your safety. If you have questions or concerns about your tires, call us at CarLife and let us help you stay as safe as possible.

Regular Tune Ups for Your Vehicle

The purpose of going to the doctor for an annual health check up is to ensure your body is in the best shape possible. Likewise, regular check ups are important for your vehicle in order to prevent any unnecessary repairs, costs, or mishaps. CarLife recognizes the need for a regular tune up for our own bodies as well as for our vehicles. We are dedicated to providing the most effective and cost efficient auto repair services in Scottsdale, Peoria, Glendale, and Mesa. Why do we need regular tune ups for our vehicle? Let’s find out!

What is a Tune Up?

When you get a tune up, you are giving your car a boost of energy and checking it over for any flaws that could cause issues in the future. A tune up checks over your brakes, tires, fluid levels, fuel filter, air filters, and important valves. As-needed tune ups look at your timing belt, spark plugs, hoses, and wires. During the tune up, if something is seen as less than ideal, the specific concern is adjusted and fixed to ensure a smooth running vehicle.

Why Regular Tune Ups?

Every electronic or mechanical piece of equipment needs regular maintenance to continually work effectively and efficiently. When you rely on your vehicle to get to work, school, or to be reliable enough to run a loved one to the ER, the last thing you need is for it to break down. Without regular tune ups, you can lose thousands of dollars in repairs and suffer unbelievable headaches. Reasons to get regular tune ups for your vehicle include:

**Avoiding Accidents: Regular check ups include looking at your tires and brakes. If your tires are wearing thin or your brakes are worn down, they could lead to a very dangerous situation. If you are on the freeway with tires that cannot handle the road, or if you don’t have appropriate brakes, you could find yourself in trouble and causing major accidents.
**Avoid Breaking Down: When you are in a rush to a meeting, have to bring a loved one to the hospital, or are picking up your child, the last thing you need is unexpected time constraints. By getting regular maintenance, you will avoid the hassle of a last minute breakdown and will be able to drive without concern.
**Cost Less: When you are having regular maintenance, you can easily prevent major issues from coming up. When major issues with your engine arise, it can easily cost hundreds to thousands of dollars.
**Less Repairs: When having preventative maintenance for your car, you are affording yourself to needing less repairs in the future.

By giving your car regular maintenance, it not only saves you money but it keeps you and your loved ones safe while giving you a peace of mind. It is worth it to know that you have a reliable vehicle that will not be causing you problems.

CarLife is dedicated to effective, efficient tune ups to ensure you have the best service for your vehicle. Contact us today and let us give you peace of mind about your vehicle being in tip top shape!

Ode to the Future

As far back as we can think, there has always been the fantasy of flying cars, or what we would think cars of the future would look like. The movie, Back to the Future, had a flying car that came out in 2016 with great doors that open up. It was a classic movie and a classic time. It is now 2017 so where are the flying cars? Well we may not quite have cars that fly like in the movies, but new technology is creating self driving cars. We here at Carlife. serving Mesa, Gilbert, and Chandler, are fascinated by all the new technology that will come out, better ways to repair cars, and what we will see in the future.

Self Driving Car

There has been so much technology advancement since the car was invented, that I bet they couldn’t even fathom cars that drive themselves. This is certainly a newer concept, or one that is feasible and possible. The goal is that by 2035, there will be around 21 million autonomous vehicles for sale. This self driving technology is being continually developed so that when going on road trips, the driver themselves can take a nap. With the smartest of minds working diligently for autonomous vehicles, they are propelling us into the future whether we want to be or not. The new vehicle design will focus on having safer roadways as well as reducing fossil fuel consumption with better air quality.

Google is one of the companies that already has the latest and greatest technology in working order. Surprise surprise. They currently have driven over three million miles on city and highway roads in autonomous vehicles. The company is working to create technology for vehicles that are equipped with a driver that is always alert and never distracted. This would create incredibly safe roadways and decrease the amount of traffic fatalities. The vehicles themselves have significant sensors on all sides of the car looking for pedestrians, cyclists, vehicles and even road work. Not only do the sensors detect the things around it, but it also works to predict the behaviors of other vehicles or pedestrians. Early rider programs are in place in Phoenix Arizona to continue working with public and car safety.

Early Riders

Google is continuing to create a safe healthy environment with the autonomous car, and is now offering public trials. There is an early rider program in Phoenix Arizona where people are allowed to be a part of the testing and shaping the future of autonomous vehicles.

With the advancement of technology, we ask ourselves, am I able to let go of control and trust a machine? That is the question, but it certainly is an interesting question. Carlife is excited for the future of cars and the types of details that will come out with them. Tell us your thoughts on this!

An Ode to the Present

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but let us show you what we see as beautiful. We looked back at the raw history sown into the design in the Packard Sedan, now we want to look at the beauty in the newest 2017 models. The prize: the Acura NSX. Carlife is an auto repair store where we appreciate how to save you money to get your car running the best it can, but we also like to dream and talk cars. Any type of cars. Today’s highlight is a treasure.

History

Acura was the first luxury brand of the Japanese automaker Honda. It was introduced into the United States in 1986 where it sought to market as high performance. In 1990, the brand launched the NSX marketed as an exotic sports car that is more practical in order to rival other exotic European sports cars. Honda has been looking to reinvent itself after a few dark years and get its mark back in the luxury model cars.
The second generation of the NSX was launched in 2015 with a twin-turbocharged mid engine, nine speed dual-clutch transmission and a sport hybrid. This newer update on the NSX rivaled many other cars of the same style and was set to be a high performance car. The NSX brand and style of car has been used in many races, and shown to be in the top ranking of a high premium. With the positive improvements of the car over the years, they are continuing to reinvent themselves with their new 2017 model.

2017 Acura NSX

This car has shown some fortitude over the years. It has gone through body style and engine remakes over the years, but coming out in the top ten performance for premium sports cars. Creation of this model began two years ago, where a smaller work crew in Ohio spent countless hours together pouring over every detail of the car. This is a car you drive with style!
A few facts about the car itself include:
Vehicle Type: Mid-engine, front and mid-motor, four-wheel drive, 2 passenger, 2 door coupe
Engine Type: twin turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 24-valve V6, aluminum block and heads, port and direct fuel injection.
Performance: zero to 60mph 2.9 seconds; zero to 100 mph 7.6 seconds with a top speed of 191 mph
Fuel Economy: EPA city/highway, 19/26 mpg
Estimated Base Price: $155,000
The specifications of this model have made it a high luxury performance car that rivals the 911 twin turbo porsche and the McLaren 570S.

The Acura NSX is a work of art. It shows of the blood, sweat and tears poured into every aspect of the vehicle. It is true beauty combined with phenomenal technology. To talk more vehicular genius, come to Carlife and let’s dream together!

An Ode to the Past

They say the future is the way to go, that everything hopeful is to look ahead. However, if you do not pay attention to the past, you miss out on great treasures. Here at Carlife we have an avid appreciation for classic cars, and not just the auto repair side of it, but the character that is etched into each historical car. There is so much more behind a car, and the cars of the past have stories that could speak for themselves. If you look hard enough, pay attention, the past can teach us some powerful things, and give us a new perspective on life.

With the car being invented in 1885, since then there has been vast improvements and additions. There are thousands of makes, models, styles, and sizes of cars. Today we are going to highlight one of the thousands from the past that brings out a deep character we love. Meet the beautiful, character infused Packard 901 Sedan from 1932.

Packard 1932

The Packard Motor Car Company was located in Detroit Michigan, and sought to create a new model for the year to boost their marketing during the depression. They built this car to compete with other higher end models of the day. The Packard 901 series was a four door, five passenger sedan, or a two door 2/4 passenger, priced at the time from $1,750 to $2,485 depending on the model, light eight or standard eight.

The Depression

The Packard Sedan of 1932 came at one of the largest economic downturns in history. The great depression began in the United States and became worldwide news with the stock market crash October 29, 1929 (known as Black Tuesday). The great depression affected the rich, the poor and everyone in between. International trade plummeted extensively, and the unemployment rate in America rose to 25%. The depression hit industry really hard. People lost their jobs, farmers prices were cut to a dangerous level and families struggled to feed their children.
Throughout the devastation, Packard sought to come out on top by creating their 1932 series. This series was at the end of the depression age and the company worked to bring about customers to the new model. The car was not ful luxury, but offered many amenities that could compete with the other models geared toward upper middle class individuals of the time.

Character

The cars today are not created out of a depression, but out of other motivations. The interesting aspect of the Packard 901 Sedan from 1932 is what it saw during its invention. The economy was devastated, families were just trying to come back, jobs were starting to come back around, and there was hope in the air that things could change. The Packard Sedan of 1932 not only is a beautiful design, but it represents a time that struggled, toiled and worked to find hope in a hopeless time.

Recognize the beauty and the story from everything around you, including classic cars. They have their own brand, their own style and their own story. Find out what it is, and come to Carlife to tell us!

Craziest Cars

Have you ever wondered what people have come up with when creating or inventing cars? Let’s find out! Here at Carlife, we love everything about automotives from repairs, to services to custom cars. We love to embrace what people have done and the way their minds work. Everyone has a mind that works entirely different that anyone else, and is wired so specifically, like each car. When we look at the past cars from the 1954 oldsmobile to the present 2017 Audi R8, we realize the beauty behind the make up. Each part was individually designed in the vehicles and took creative minds to build such beauty.

Craziest Car Ideas

People have come up with amazing ideas and ways to improve their vehicles. Just a hand full of ideas we have found are:
-Grass car-covered in grass from top to bottom
-Double Car- a car stacked on top of another car. Pretty scary if you ask me.
-Telephone Car- shaped and created like an old school telephone

The point is that people get creative. They release whatever is in their heart onto their vehicle. It is impressive, noteworthy and admirable.

A vehicle is not just about transportation. People are passionate about their cars because the car becomes a part of their motivation of moving forward in life. It creates opportunities for people to be seen in a different way, a way to express who they are, and who they want to be.

In what way does your vehicle express who you are? How is your personality shown in your car? Come to Carlife and let’s chat about your car and what we can do for you!
